Examples of Flanagan's CAD Design

Below are designs/solutions to projects that I have encountered. While not an engineer, I base my work on VMA and industry standards. Submitting my work for evaluation and acceptance by project managers.

Williams Pipeline Transco (2019)

Williams Transco was looking to modernize two LNG tanks located at their Carlstadt, NJ location. The manual valves had been in service since the '70's and represented both operational and safety concerns. Williams was able to provide original documentation on the valves.

Initial design of retrofit split flange design. Key elements of the design include:

• Transition of Bolting: We had to transition from the existing mounting plan of the valve to a modern, standardardized plan. We brought the bolt up of the new flanges outboard to existing plan.
• Plate thickness: Was selected on the flat head socket cap screws.

This plate shows revisions made to the original design. The original design was flawed by basing the bolt circle on a pythagorean theorem approximation of the bolt circle. To conserve material, the 'new' flange was used, offsetting a new bolt circle by 22°

This was the second valve encountered. It was a direct mount of FA19 based gearbox onto an exposed stem.
